Kocour Saurus 19°

Terza ed ultima – per il momento – degustazione dalla Pivovar Kocour. Una strong lager speciale ed abbastanza aggressiva, 7.2% di gradazione alcolica che si sentono tutti e non fanno sconti, prodotta con luppoli americani ed inglesi e con lievito scozzese utilizzato normalmente per la produzione di whiskey. Di colore arancio scuro velato, forma cappello di schiuma color ocra, pannosa e molto persistente. Al naso malto, molto pronunciato, con note erbacee in secondo piano. Al gusto si presenta dolce all’imbocco, con malti e lieviti in evidenza. Corpo medio, carbonatazione abbastanza alta. Il finale vira invece deciso verso l’amaro, molto lungo ed alcolico, avvolgendo di caldo il palato. L’aggressivo T-Rex raffigurato sull’etichetta è un po’ l’essenza di questa birra: un prodotto un po’ primitivo e grezzo (e questo sembra essere un po’ il marchio di fabbrica del birrificio) che aggredisce il palato e non lascia via di scampo. La bevibilità è molto limitata dall’elevata sensazione alcolica e dalla carbonatazione che la rende quasi frizzante al palato; il gusto monocorde poi non agevola l’impresa di finire la bottiglia da 33 cl. che abbiamo degustato.

Special brew from Czech brewery Kocour. This is a strong lager with ABV = 7.,2% produced with American and English hopes and Scottish yeast. Cloudy dark orange color, with a large creamy head very lasting. Strong smell of malt and yeast, with some herbal notes in the background. The taste is sweet malt and yeast. Medium body, high carbonation. It ends bitter, with a long alcoholic and warm feeling all around the palate. The aggressive T-Rex on the label is somehow representative of this beer: a rough and primitive product (similar to other Kocour beers) which attacks the drinker’s palate with no way out. Drinking this Saurus is not an easy task; you can feel all the 7.2% alcohol and the high carbonation makes it almost fizzy to the palate. Monotonous taste (malts and yeast) is also not helping very much, For strong lager fans only.
