Chevalier Lazar

Color marrone, forma un ampio cappello di schiuma beige, persistente, cremosa. Al naso rivela note erbacee, malto tostato, sentori di vaniglia e lieviti. Corpo leggero, carbonatazione medio-alta. In bocca sono i malti tostati a dominare, con sentori di caffè e una leggera affumicatura che emerge a fine corsa. Abbastanza secca, lascia al palato un retrogusto amaro da tostatura. Curiosamente classificata come india pale ale su Ratebeer, è in realtà una porter discreta un po' penalizzata, nella versione in bottiglia da una carbonatazione un po' eccessiva. Alla spina ci era sembrata più nello stile. Degustata in bottiglia da 50 cl., ABV 7% ben nascosto, 5 € direttamente dallo stand del birrificio.

Strangely listed as india pale ale on Ratebeer, this is actually a porter from italian craft microbrewey Birrificio Chevalier. Dark brown color with a very big frothy beige head. Hoppy grass with notes of roasted malt, vanilla and yeast. Light bodied, medium-high carbonation. Taste is roasted malts, hints of coffee and smoke in the finish. Pretty dry, leaves a bitter roasted aftertaste in the palate. A quite average porter with an excessive - at least in the bottled version - carbonation. We enjoyed it more on draft. 50 cl. swing top bottle, 7% ABV, 5 €.
