Les Bières du Grand St. Bernard Amy

La piccola Val d’Aosta può vantare già tre realtà brassicole, tra brewpubs e birrifici. Uno di questi, aperto nel 2010 nel comune di Etroubles, non lontano dall’imbocco del traforo del Gran San Bernardo dal quale il birrficio prende il nome: Les Bières du Grand St. Bernard. In attività da luglio 2010, sotto la guida di Rémy Charbonnier e Stefano Collé. Amy è la loro oatmeal stout, di colore ebano scuro, con schiuma color nocciola, fine e cremosa. Al naso malto tostato e caffè. In bocca è leggera con bassa carbonatazione, ma manca di quella setosità che una stout all’avena dovrebbe avere risultando invece abbastanza “watery”. Il gusto trova corrispondenza con l’aroma, terminando in un finale amaro di malto tostato ancora un po’ troppo acquoso. Una stout discreta, dal gusto abbastanza pulito, che può ancora essere migliorata. Formato 33 cl., alc. 5.6%, lotto 186/10, scad. 10/2011, prezzo 4€.

This oatmeal stout pours a very dark brown color with a creamy tanned head. Roasted malts and coffee in the nose. With quite watery mouthfeel, this oatmeal stout is lacking that silky texture you would expect. Taste is again roasted malt and coffee, finish has roasted malts bitterness. Taste is not bad and quite clean; with some more improvement from brewery this stout could really become a good one. 33 cl. bottle, 5.6% ABV, batch 186/10, bb. 10/2011, 4€.
