Brewery: Camba Bavaria, Truchtlaching, Bavaria, Germany
Appearance: hazy copper with a diminishing creamy white head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, light yeast spices. Mouthfeel: low carbonation, body is from light to medium, watery texture. Taste: caramel, nutty malt, light dark fruits (cherries, dried plums); dry finish, bitter grassy and roasted aftertaste. Overall: Camba Bavaria brewery brakes up with long established Bavarian “festbier” tradition and brews a Saint Arnold Christmas Ale based on the recipe from Texas Saint Arnolds Brewing Company. The result didn’t impress us at all. Light aroma, unclean yeasty taste and a weak character. It’s overall a sweet and balanced beer, but we would’ve expected something more different from dull Bavarian Christmans festbier. Bottle: 75 cl., 7.2& ABV, batch 318 15, BB 14/05/2012, price 10,90 Euro.
