english summary:
Brewery: Moor Beer Company, Langport, Somerset, England.
Appearance: clear deep amber color with a rocky off-white head. Aroma: light sweet citrus pulp, hints of tropical fruits, caramel. Mouthfeel: full body, low carbonation, smooth texture. Taste: surprisingly dominated by malts. Very few hop traces, this beer tastes more like a barley wine than a Double IPA. There’s some estery fruitness in the finish, followed by an herbal and very bitter aftertaste. Overall: we really enjoyed some other tasteful Moor’s beers with a low alcohol content, but this JJJ IPA kind of disappointed us. It’s sure a big beer, but it misses all the hoppy fruity flavors you would expect in an IPA. Lots of malts and lots of alcohol are making this brew not easily drinkable. Bottle: 66 cl., 9.5% ABV, BB 31/05/2012, price 6.20 GBP.
