Smoked beer from Italian brewpub Lambrate. Very dark brown color, nearly black with a big creamy, rocky, long lasting brown head. Smokey nose (pretty much like smoked cheese!) with roasted malt and coffee. Bodied is from medium to light, with medium carbonation. Flavor is pretty much like aroma, with a very dry wine-like finish. Very bitter aftertaste with hoppy grass and roasted malt. Imperial Ghisa hides pretty well its 8.5% ABV; this makes it quite drinkable but also not so “imperial”. A more structured body would have helped, in our opinion. 33 cl. bottle, 5€.
