Brewery: Port Brewing, San Marcos, California, USA. Style: Double/Imperial India Pale Ale.
Appearance: hazy orange with a lasting creamy off-white head. Aroma: a few hop memories with tropical fruits and resin. But mostly malt and alcohol. Mouthfeel: full body, medium-high carbonation, oily texture. Taste: biscuit malt, caramel, alcohol. Old hops are adding lots of bitter resin and herbs. Dry finish, very bitter resinous aftertaste with lots of warming alcohol. Overall: bottled more than 7 months ago, this is no longer a worthy double IPA. As hops have fainted, this beer turned into a “malt and alcohol bomb” rather than a “hop monster”. To be drunk slowly and carefully. When fresh, this is a wonderful beer. Otherwise, you’d better avoid it. Bottle: 65 cl., 10% ABV, batch unknown, price 11.40 Euro
